About
My name is Pam Bussing
How Long have you been attending PAC? I started attending watercolor classes in February 2024.
Classes Taken at PAC? I have taken 3 acrylic classes (Paint Nights), which are fun because you complete the project during the class and take it home. It was in February 2024, I attended a watercolor class. I didn't realize it was an 8-week course. But I was hooked as of the first class and I've been taking classes ever since.
What inspired you to take classes at PAC? My dear friend Cathy L., asked me attend a watercolor class because I was unable to go on a missions trip overseas. Turns out it was exactly what I needed! While I knew that God was in control of my not being able to go on the trip; the class was quite therapeutic. I was learning something completely new and spending time with warm and encouraging people! The fellowship and camaraderie is as special as learning to paint.
How has the PAC program impacted you and your art? When I went to college, I am retired now, so a long time ago, I wanted to go into interior design. My mechanical drawings were spot-on, but I was not able render my drawings or sketch. In a nutshell, I was told I would never make it in that business and to find something else to do; which I did and have no regrets. It's that history that makes it challenging to say "my art" because it feels - foreign. Yet, it is my art, I am learning and growing, even on those days when I get frustrated because the paint is doing what it wants and not what I planned! The classes at PAC have given me the confidence to turn some of my paintings into note cards. I hope that the people who receive them find as much joy as I do in the giving.
Anything else you’d like to add? While a few may have natural talent for painting or drawing, many of us can learn the skills that allow us to express ourselves in our painting and enjoy the process along the way!
